With "Libertine Vienna" Austria has the oldest pansexual politically active BDSM initiative in the German-speaking world.
With many little-known artifacts from the Libertine Archive (posters, flyers, folders, etc.), we outline the history of “perversion” and the Austrian BDSM and fetish scene, showing which important initiatives were launched and how concepts such as “consent,” “negotiation,” “play,” “power exchange,” etc. have been developed, which have long since become commonplace terms outside the BDSM scene when it comes to negotiating modern forms of play and relationships.
We show which activities and threads of discussion were particularly important in this history, but also which ones have been forgotten and can (and should?) be used as inspiration for the future.
Since humor and self-irony have always been part of public relations and discussions in the Viennese SM scene, entertaining or funny passages cannot be ruled out in this lecture.
